Call for ECYC Secretary General
ECYC is looking for a full-time (40 hours per week) Secretary General to work with ECYC in our office in Brussels.
Who are we looking for:
A person based in Brussels or able to relocate to Brussels, Belgium with:
Previous experience (voluntary or professional) in management (organisational, project, HR, finance, etc.), civil society work, open youth work, youth clubs and demonstrable youth commitment. Such experience in international contexts is a plus.
vital operational planning and prioritisation skills, ability to work independently and delegate effectively
ability to build respectful, productive working relationships with people from different cultures and backgrounds
ability to see the big picture whilst having an eye for detail and translating an ambitious vision into achievable objectives
excellent written and spoken English, fluency in French or Dutch or any other European language is an asset
experience in grant writing and fundraising, as well as reporting, especially for the European Commission grants (Erasmus+, Civil Society Cooperation, )
Understanding the European Union and Council of Europe international environment-related policies and decision-making processes.
Knowledge of supporting mechanisms for youth participation
Skills like critical thinking, ability to use different types of media communication, ability to problem-solving and good creative thinking
Commitment to the equality in rights for civic, social, and political participation of all community members without any exceptions.
What the job entails:
Organisational management
Accountability to the Board and General Assembly for implementation of the annual work programme and management of the budget
Practical organisation of Statutory meetings
Follow up on strategic work plan
Managerial oversight of the Secretariat, including recruitment, supervision, appraisal and motivation of staff and effective delegation, when necessary
Oversight of financial and project/programme management
Ensuring that the structures and processes within the organisation are kept under review
Assisting with membership engagement, helping the Board and thematic working groups with their tasks
Communication
Upholding of transparent and effective communication norms, both within the organisation and externally
Outreach to current and potential partners to maintain and strengthen relationships
Fundraising
Overseeing a fundraising strategy to consolidate and diversify funding sources
Ethic
Respect ECYC values and the code of conduct.
What ECYC offers:
A 12-month full-time (40 hours per week) employment contract with the possibility to prolong
Work in the office in Brussels city centre, together with an ambitious international team residing in different parts of Europe
Salary negotiations will be based on the Belgian salary scheme, PC 329.01 B1C or B1B, https://www.jeugdwerkjobs.be/baremas-pc-32901 starting from 1900 EUR (2600 BRUTO)
