Yes, that's right. 2012 will be a year with celebrations, while at the same time taking important steps forward. The European Confederation of Youth Club Organisations (ECYC) is about to launch its freshly designed website with different interactive features which will allow ECYC to be more visible, up to date and be of better service to its members and supporters. There's also a General Assembly in Denmark coming up, which will result in a new ECYC Bureau, as well as taking ECYC further in reaching its goals of defending the intrest of open youth work and non-formal education across Europe. 

Several of ECYC's member organisations will also have some anniversaries to celebrate: DOJ exists for 10 years, FCJMP for 40 years, Youth Work Ireland for 50 years, Formaat will celebrate 50 years of open youth work in Flanders, Belgium, and in 2013 Ungdom & Fritid will celebrate 60 years of youth clubs in Norway. The European Youth Foundation (EYF), which is the deprtment of youth of the Council of Europe, will also celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2012. Well, if all of this isn't enough reason to display what open youth work is capable of, then I don't know what is. That's why ECYC will launch a publication project this year, which will show what the actual impact of open youth work means in people's lives as well as in this ever changing society as a whole.
