The 1st Summer Youth Camp organised by Cyprus Youth Clubs Organiation (CYCO) brought together 32 young people aged 14-18 from young clubs across Cyprus to a campsite just outside the village of Kornos.

Activities at the camp included workshops, discussions, teambuilding activities and energisers. The young people used dance and art to express their views and attitudes towards issues they face in Cyprus today.

Through the camp young people developed their understanding of group dynamics, becoming able to tackle problems that might arise between different members of the group – something that they can use if there are problems between different groups of young people in their youth clubs. They built self awareness and self-control to work in a team and developed their leadership skills.

Some of the young people’s organisational and creative skills were put to the test when they organised a party for the last night of the camp. They rose to the challenge with a mix of traditional and modern dances and satire.
