Killed by car accident, Alcohol while driving - both massive issues for young people and society as a whole. In 2001 a few youth clubs in Luxembourg acted and started a pilot project: the Late Night Bus. A special bus service organized “by young people for young people” in order to ensure young people could get home safely at weekends.

In 2005 the youth clubs and their national federation, Daachverband vun de Letzebuerger Jugendklibb, managed to get strong financial support from municipalities and the Transport Ministry. Since then the Late Night Bus idea became a country wide initiative.

At the same time the youth clubs supported the national campaign “No alcohol if younger than 16” and linked this message to the very popular Late Night Bus project. “Being young and partying, yes !, but please in a responsible way!”.

Today, thanks to the volunteer work of young people, young people in the whole country use a Late Night Bus service and the message campaign “no alcohol if younger than 16” has a large acceptance in Luxembourg.
