- Samfés is a national non-governmental youth organisation with120 youth clubs as members. The organisation oversees activities for young people between the ages of 13-25 on the national level as well as taking part in international projets when possible. The organisation is funded by membership fees, private sponsoring and participation income.
- Samfés‘ main objectives are to:
- Encourage communication and cooperation between youth clubs domestically and internationally;
- Aid professional development and education with conferences and seminars in the field of youth clubs;
- Provide information concerning youth club programs with the network and to other sections of society;
- Influence discussion, policy and law making concerning youth issues.
- Samfés is very well known amongst young people in Iceland and the participation rate in its events is very high. Almost 30% of all young people aged 13-16 years old attend the annual festival Samfes organises. Other projects the organisation oversees include a national congress for young people, designing projects, a rap competion and other workshops.
