- Associació de Casals i Grups de Joves de Catalunya, was founded in 1994 with the aim of gathering together the people, youth centres and youth groups who are all working towards a common pedagogical and ideological project, defining themselves as a secular and progressive association.
- Casals de Joves de Catalunya promotes and organises different youth activities and projects based on the idea that young people can run them independently and participate within them democratically. It is at the same time a place for thinking together and exchanging experiences and resources between the different bodies, members and people involved in youth projects.
- Twenty five Youth Clubs are involved in this project which gathers together 1.300 members and 150 voluntary youth workers. All the different activities (training, debating, recreational, celebrative, etc) are thought, organised and created by and for young people. The different activities carried out in our youth clubs depend on the needs and interests of the young members of the clubs themselves, so in every youth club different and diverse activities are run, such as cine forums, concerts, ICT courses, and workshops including theatre, dance, comic drawing, music, etc.
- We claim every citizen’s right to participate within their society in an active and committed way, especially young people due to their secondary role within society.
- Casals de Joves de Catalunya keeps relationships with youth organisations abroad. Thanks to these contacts it is possible for us to carry out international projects and to promote youth participation in exchanges and international seminars, as well as helping young people understand other cultural realities and encourage curiosity towards everything that surrounds us. International youth work allows cooperation with other bodies which, like us, work towards the creation of a fairer world.
